In 2014, I traveled to Oaxaca to better understand the obesity epidemic that continues to destroy my country. Mexico is famous for its culinary tradition but it’s also one of the most worrying cases of obesity and diabetes. Moving from metal restaurant kitchens to open-air wood stoves, I met women whose knowledge, generosity and relationship with food offered a different way of seeing what we eat. This project is a journey into what we inherit through food and what we might lose when the knowledge of how to find, recognize and cook it disappears.
